Spring cleaning tip
To eliminate the soot smell from your fireplace after you have cleared the ashes pour baking soda in a pie tin and place it in the fireplace for a couple of days. The soot smell will be absorbed.
My interest in tools, repairing, maintaining cars and all manner of items found around a typical midwest home started as a child helping my dad. Dad was a depression era adult and out of necessity had to learn how to fix things that were broken, make needed improvements and what tools to use and how to use them.
This knowledge has been passed on to me and over the years I have expanded it to include other areas such as lawn care, landscaping, wood working and refinishing, interior painting, wood deck and fence restoration and preservation, concrete cleaning and sealing.
